Fitness Class Descriptions
30-10-10:
A fun and effective workout! 30 minutes of low-impact aerobics, 10 minutes of core conditioning, and 10 minutes of dynamic (yoga) stretching. Suitable for all ages (13+) and levels!
Barre Fitness:
This fun cardio and toning focused class will utilze barre for variety of Ballet, Pilates, and Yoga exercises. Participants may be bare foot, wear ballet shoes, socks, or other athletic shoes.
Barre Tone:
A toning focused class that utilizes barre and various other equipment for strength, balance and flexibility training to bring body changing results.
Body Pump™:
Les Mills BodyPump™ is the revolutionary barbell workout challenges all major muscle groups. Class consists of squats, presses, lifts and curls as you strengthen, tone and define your entire body.You determine the level you’ll work at by choosing the appropriate weights. The
45 minute format
removes the tricep and bicep tracks for a quicker, but still efficient workout.
Cardio Dance:
This exhilarating cardio class to radio hits (pop, club, hip hop) music uses easy-to-follow moves combining fast and slow rhythms (interval training) to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.
Core20:
This 20 minute class will give your core a quick and challenging workout.
Kickboxing:
Cardio kickboxing uses easy-to-follow kick and punch combinations for a total body cardio workout!
Middle Eastern Dance (Belly dancing)
: The fluid motions of this dance class will help loosen muscle, build stamina, balance, flexibility, and strength.
Pilates 1:
Focuses on proper body alignment, technique, and posture based on the basic Joseph Pilates’ exercise method.
Power Tone:
This class incorporates strength, balance and flexibility training using various equipment to bring body changing results.
SilverSneakers® Classic
: Have fun and move to the music through a variety of exercises designed to improve balance, flexibility, muscular strength, range of motion for daily living skills. Hand-held weights, elastic tubing with handles, and a ball are offered for resistance; and a chair is used for seated and/or standing support.
Step:
Single or double step cardio workout. Fun choreography keeps you moving and grooving.
Tabata Circuit:
(30 minutes) will begin with a short warm-up followed by a series of four minute exercise sequences broken into eight (20 seconds of intense work followed by 10 seconds of rest) intervals. Class will end with a short cool down and stretch.
Tabata Circuit+Core:
(45 minutes) Same as the description above, except the class will end with a challenging core work and a stretch.
Ultimate Circuit:
This class incorporates cardio and strength training segments, increasing the overall intensity of the class. Focuses on all major muscle groups to improve muscular tone, endurance, strength, and cardiovascular fitness.
Youth Fitness:
Youth Fitness is a group fitness class for 5-12 yrs old. This class introduces youth for different fitness activities from Circuit Training, Zumba®, Kickboxing, to Yoga, and much more. Parents may participate too!
Zumba®:
Zumba is a calorie-burning dance fitness party where Latin and World rhythms are combined with easy-to-follow moves. The routines feature interval training sessions where fast and slow rhythms are combined to tone and sculpt your body while burning fat.
Zumba Gold®:
Zumba Gold is designed for anyone, any age (13+), and any ability level! Lower intensity levels, but using the same rythms of Zumba guaranteed to be fun and effective total body workout.
YOGA CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Chair Yoga:
A unique yoga style that adapts yoga positions and poses through creative use of a yoga chair. The chair is used for support during standing poses, forward and backward bends, side extensions, balancing, and leg and arm stretches. Chair Yoga is suitable for all ages (13+), fitness levels and physical conditions.
Gentle Yoga:
Slow down and reap the rewards of a gentle approach to yoga. This class incorporates yoga props to support the body and customize the poses to suit each student’s individual needs. The class is fitting for students who are new to yoga, students who have physical limitations or are recovering from injury, and students who want to have a less rigorous and more relaxing practice.
Yoga Level 1 – Foundational:
Build a solid foundation in the basic poses. Level 1 classes are appropriate for those who are newer to yoga as well as continuing students who are looking to refine their experience.
Yoga Level 2 – Foundational + Flow:
Flow through your practice as you deepen your understanding of the poses. Level 2 classes continue to develop the foundational poses while accommodating a broader range of experience levels. Prior yoga experience and familiarity with basic poses recommended.
Yoga Level 3 –
Vigorous: Deepen your practice and challenge yourself physically and mentally. For more advanced practitioners, Level 3 classes work from a base of vigorous sun salutations to explore more challenging variations of poses. Not for beginners – prior yoga experience strongly recommended.
CYCLING CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
Cycling:
One of the most popular group fitness classes at the Y. No complicated choreography with easy to learn techniques. Intensity is controlled by you, making cycling appropriate for all levels of fitness.
Silver Riders:
A more gentle cycle class geared toward the novice rider. This class will consist of 45 minutes of steady cycling cadence.
WATER FITNESS CLASS DESCRIPTIONS
AA Water Fitness:
This 50 minute workout includes aerobic, strengthening and flexibility exercises appropriate for all fitness levels.
Aqua Fit:
This workout focuses on aerobics and toning in the shallow and deep water.
Aqua Power:
This deep-water workout focuses on cardiovascular endurance using a combination of flippers and/or floatation belts.
